This transitional custom build, located in Vienna Woods, blends the best of traditional with the clean lines of the modern. At 6,450sf, this house fits comfortably on the nearly one third acre site at the end of a cul-de-sac. The site’s landscape is carefully designed by landscape architect and horticulturist Jennifer Horn. The property lines presented the opportunity to angle the two-car garage creating a motor court. Above the garage in the dormered front gable roof is a home office. This echoes the prominent gable on the main house above the front porch, creating a pleasing arrangement of relaxed charm. The front porch is clad in painted brick and paved with blue stone. Cedar ceilings, columns, and brackets add accents of natural materials and compliment the crisp contemporary features such as large floor to ceiling windows in black. The use of standing seam metal roof at the front porch is continued with the shed dormers, flanking the front gable and completing the composition. Inside, numerous design elements were carefully considered by the homeowners, MK staff and the interior designers at Wellhouse and Co. The floors throughout are live cut, seven-inch-wide, white oak. Reclaimed wood beams define the family room as the spaces seamlessly flow from room to room. Greenfield custom inset cabinets and quartz counters define the space in the kitchen. The 18’ wide, four-panel patio doors allow uninterpreted indoor/outdoor space between the family room and the covered screen porch. The screened porch is equipped with motorized rollup screens and a wood burning fireplace built with natural fieldstone. The owner’s suite is complete with a sitting area allowing the bedroom to be secluded behind a pair of sliding barn doors. Each of the five bedrooms have dedicated baths with custom tile. A full attic loft space is outfitted with an additional bedroom, bath and project room. The basement features a spacious rec room, full size home gym, and a guest room and bath.

This modern farmhouse is 4,500sf with four floors including the finished basement and attic loft. Located in Vienna, the site allows for easy access to a two-car garage with walk way leading to the large stone paved front porch. The rear yard accommodates new decorative tree planting and a stone paved patio leading to a large deck with modern cable railing. It takes the relaxed, hassle-free farmhouse style and adds modern touches such as large four panel patio doors in the family room at the deck, large casement windows throughout and neutral color schemes.
