MK provides a seamless, turn-key process to design and build the home of your dreams.
The Programming stage begins with assessing your needs and requirements for your new home. The MK Development team will meet with you to discuss requirements for the space including the budget, timeline, and general aesthetics.
During the Conceptual Design stage, we will develop a design based on the needs and requirements identified in the Programming stage. We will create
preliminary floor plans to show dimensions, the different functional areas within the space, and door and window locations, and start developing concepts for
your space in collaboration with our interior designer.
Once the basic concept is complete, our team will prepare a construction budget based on your choices and present you with a complete price for the
construction of your new home. After this process, you are welcome to either move forward with MK's design development services or to continue with
another design-builder. You are under no obligation to use more services than you actually need for your project.
Design Development is the stage in the design process when the preliminary rough sketches are refined and developed into a complete set of blueprints. The
blueprints help you understand exactly what your house will look like and will take into account any changes from the conceptual plans. The blueprints are
also used to obtain a building permit and to eventually build your home.
During Design Development you will also choose finish materials, paint colors, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, appliances and other features of your home,
specifying manufacturer, style, and finish.
During the Permit Submission stage, MK Development will take your blueprints and other documents and apply for all necessary permits on your behalf. After reviewing the application, the permitting authority will pass the plans back to MK with questions, clarifications and corrections. Once this occurs we respond and modify the drawings as necessary. After all questions are answered satisfactorily we will get your permit and will be ready to move on to the Construction stage.
Before construction begins, we will schedule a pre-construction meeting where you will meet your Project Manager and Superintendent. The Project Manager
will oversee the project to ensure that contractual, schedule, budget and technical requirements are met. The Superintendent will be on-site at all times to
manage building inspector visits, deliveries, and subcontractors.
During construction, we will provide you with schedule updates so you are informed about on-going activities and which trades will be on-site. We also will
provide you with detailed spending reports, at any time, so you can see exactly where your money is being spent.
When the construction period ends, the Project Manager will walk you through the finished project and ensure your complete satisfaction. Our job isn't done
until until everything works the way it should and you have signed off on the work.
We pay special attention when choosing high-quality materials, fixtures, and appliances. Some of the features that are typical in an MK home include:
